According to TF Securities International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple’s first foldable iPhone is running behind schedule, but the company still intends to announce the device in the second half of 2026. Kuo has noted persistent production and manufacturing issues that are impeding the project’s advancement. Even if Apple is still determined to get into the foldable smartphone market, the corporation might have trouble rapidly increasing manufacturing. Because of this, even if the foldable iPhone is formally unveiled on schedule, its availability may be restricted for a considerable amount of time.

Kuo stated in a recent post that manufacturing difficulties had caused the development of the foldable iPhone to lag behind prior projections. Early-stage yield problems and production ramp-up challenges could postpone seamless shipments until 2027, he continued. Because of this, even though demand is expected to be high, Apple may have limited supply and product shortages through at least the end of 2026.
According to Kuo, Apple is probably going to make an announcement about the foldable iPhone on schedule, but it might be difficult to ship it in big quantities. He likened the situation to the initial iPhone X launch, in which production limitations caused the product to be released later than anticipated. The foldable iPhone might only be available to some customers in late 2026 or early 2027.
Despite these obstacles, Kuo thinks Apple will need to introduce the foldable iPhone next year, even if the initial sales are modest. According to reports, the business sees foldable phones as the next big step in the development of smartphones, ahead of more long-term items like smart eyewear with displays.
