Until January 1, 2026, OpenAI is providing its Codex users with double the use limitations.

As part of a Christmas season promotion, OpenAI and Anthropic are temporarily raising use caps for specific users of their artificial intelligence (AI) coding agents, Codex and Claude. Until January 1, 2026, OpenAI has reset and raised rate limitations for Codex users to double the typical amount. Anthropic has also launched a holiday use deal that allows its Pro and Max customers to quadruple their regular usage limitations across Claude’s mobile, desktop, and web platforms from December 25 to December 31.

OpenAI and Anthropic Provide Users with Holiday Benefits

Technical staff member Thibault Sottiaux posted on X (formerly known as Twitter) to announce the OpenAI offer. “For Codex users, to thank you all for the fun we’ve had over the last months, our first gift is that we have reset rate limits and are lifting the usage limits to 2X the usual limits until the 1st of Jan,” Sottiaux wrote.

OpenAI‘s specialized AI agent for coding activities, Codex, can manage end-to-end development based on a written prompt or pictures that illustrate the fundamental concept of the program. Through platforms like Visual Studio (VS) Code and Cursor, it may be utilized locally as a command-line interface (CLI), within ChatGPT, and as an integrated development environment.

On the same social media site, Claude’s official account also announced the promotion: “Starting at midnight PT tonight, all Pro and Max plans have 2x their usual usage limits through New Year’s Eve.” A support site has also been created with the promotion’s specifics.

Only individual users are eligible for Anthropic’s seasonal usage boosts; Team and Enterprise plans are not. The doubling limitations are available to both new and current members who enroll in Pro or Max during the promotional period. Usage restrictions for each subscription restore to their regular levels when the offer expires.

The promos coincide with a number of AI platforms modifying metering and cap controls, which determine how much of the service each paid tier may use in a particular time frame. These restrictions are often specified by rolling windows and weekly use limitations. Developers, experts, and heavy users who reach their boundaries under demanding workloads are the target audience for both announcements.
