#2 AI Impact Summit: India’s IT Minister Says Over $200 Billion in AI Investments Are Anticipated
On February 16, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened AI Expo 2026.
Tuesday marked the start of the second day of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, which started on February 16. The government is hosting a number of technocrats and business executives for the five-day event. They are there to talk about the future of the nation’s deep tech and artificial intelligence ecosystem. It is anticipated that India’s AI and deep tech ecosystem would make use of the current technological framework.
India anticipates receiving around $200 billion (about Rs. 18,14,000 crore) in investments in the nation’s AI and deep tech ecosystem over the next two years, according to ANI, which cites the Union IT minister. The minister allegedly stated that there are interests on two fronts on the second day of the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi. The country’s investments in AI come first, followed by venture capitalist funding from India’s rich tech ecosystem.
UPI, Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and Open Network Digital Commerce (ONDC) are examples of the digital public infrastructure (DPI) that the government has supported in recent years as part of the Digital India agenda.

As a result, the nation has developed several noteworthy technological frameworks. Regarding how this would support AI adoption in India, the minister emphasized the nation’s technological framework, which is supported by DPI and is anticipated to hasten AI deployment.
According to the article, the Union Minister also noted that CEOs and global tech executives have expressed “keen interest” in investing in India, particularly in the nation’s expanding deep tech startup infrastructure and ecosystem.
These interests are not exclusive to India’s AI sector, though. Numerous multinational internet companies have already committed to investing in India, setting up offices there, constructing data centers around the nation, and offering more affordable plans in an effort to reach the country’s sizable Internet user base.
In Bengaluru, Anthropic most recently opened its first office in India and posted job vacancies to recruit local talent. The US-based startup also revealed that the second-largest user base for its AI-powered chatbot, Claude, is located in India.
Ahead of the establishment of its first office in New Delhi, India, OpenAI has started hiring. The AI behemoth also intends to construct data centers all throughout the nation. In a similar vein, Microsoft declared in December 2025 that it will invest around $17.5 billion (approximately Rs. 1.57 lakh crore) in India over the next four years.

Dario Amodei, CEO and co-founder of Anthropic, emphasized the importance of domain expertise in bridging the gap between AI models that perform well in demonstrations and those that can function effectively in highly regulated industries. He highlighted that Infosys has the necessary experience in key sectors like manufacturing, financial services, and telecommunications. “Their developers are already using Claude Code to enhance their workflow and build AI agents that require precision, compliance, and in-depth industry knowledge,” he added.
The partnership will also integrate Infosys Topaz, an AI-driven platform development solution, with Anthropic’s Claude AI models and the Claude Code tool. The collaboration includes the use of AI agents powered by the Claude Agent SDK and other related technologies. According to the companies, these agentic technologies will help organizations modernize outdated systems and improve operational efficiency.
Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, stated, “Our aim is to combine the strengths of Infosys and Anthropic to speed up the realization of AI value for global enterprises. This includes modernizing financial services with intelligent risk management and compliance, as well as enabling engineering businesses to lead through AI-driven design and manufacturing.”
