According to reports, a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 with model number SM-F976U was seen on the IMEI website.
With the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 going on sale in the second half of this year, Samsung seems to be proceeding with its customary launch plans for the Galaxy Z series foldables. According to reports, both foldable cellphones have been added to the GSMA IMEI database, suggesting that development is under progress. Along with the regular variants, Samsung is reportedly planning to release a third enigmatic foldable smartphone this year. With the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy chipset, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Flip 7 were introduced in July of last year.
Samsung’s 2026 Foldables Found in the IMEI Database
The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are registered in the IMEI database with model numbers SM-F976U and SM-F776U, respectively, according to a report by Smartprix. It seems that the model names with the letter “U” in them are meant for the US market. For worldwide models, Samsung often employs the suffix “B.”
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 are apparently codenamed “Q8” and “B8” in the IMEI listing, respectively. These entries follow Samsung’s foldable naming convention. The listing implies that Samsung may continue to release its Galaxy Z series according to its regular schedule.
Last month, a third foldable model with the model number SM-F971U and codename “H8” appeared in the IMEI database, suggesting that the foldable portfolio may be expanded. In terms of Samsung’s foldable strategy, this new gadget may constitute a new category. In order to compete with Apple’s next foldable iPhone, it is anticipated to launch as the “Wide” Galaxy Z Fold 8 model.

Samsung hasn’t yet provided any formal confirmation on the 2026 Galaxy foldable series, though. There will probably be more information shortly.
The new foldables are probably going to be released by Samsung in July of this year. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is anticipated to include enhanced telephoto and ultrawide cameras along with a 5,000mAh battery. It is reportedly 10% lighter and thinner than the current Galaxy Z Fold 7. Additionally, the book-style foldable could support the S Pen and have quicker charging times. There will probably be a barely noticeable wrinkle.
