The Dimensity 8500 processor may power the Xiaomi 17T, which is currently under development.
The firm said on Monday that the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset will be released this month. Rumor has it that the chipmaker was testing a new mobile processor to power a number of incoming phones in recent weeks. The processor may be more efficient and perform better than its predecessor, the Dimensity 8400. The Dimensity 8500 chipset may be combined with a Mali-G720 GPU and have a max clock speed of 3.40GHz, according to rumors.
Date of MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Chipset Release
The Dimensity 8500 chipset will be released in China on January 15 at 3 p.m. local time (12:30 p.m. IST), according to a MediaTek Weibo post. However, the chipmaker has not yet disclosed any information on the next CPU.
According to sources, TSMC’s 4nm technology will be used to create the Dimensity 8500. According to reports, it has an octa-core design with three mid-cores running at 3.20GHz, four efficiency cores running at 2.20GHz, and one performance core with a clock speed of 3.40GHz.
The Mali-G720 MC8 GPU may be used with the future Dimensity chipset. According to leaks, the chipset has received more than 2.2 million points in the AnTuTu benchmark. In terms of GPU performance, it is said to surpass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 CPUs.

Although the SoC has not yet been released, rumors indicate that it may come alongside a future Honor smartphone with a 10,000mAh battery. It is anticipated that this will be the Honor Power 2. In addition, Xiaomi is reportedly working on the Xiaomi 17T, which could include the same MediaTek Dimensity 8500 CPU.
According to reports, the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 chipset offers a number of improvements over its predecessor SoC. For comparison, the Dimensity 8400, which debuted in December 2024, has eight Arm Cortex-A725 cores with a 4.32GHz peak clock speed, however each core has its own memory cache. Additionally, it has the Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE), which debuted alongside the Dimensity 9400 processor. According to MediaTek, it can transform conventional AI applications into complex agentic AI applications.
